Silk & Saris (Vârânaî)

On Dasashwamedh Ghât, in Vârânasî, women flow together in an amazing morning ballet of bright saris and odhnis. All is gracefulness, movement, elegance, and fluidity.

As they move around, colours dissolve. Motions and shades merge into each other. The floating saris are like brushstrokes coming together and drifting apart, creating their own scenery.

As soon as day breaks, this great coloured wave ripples over the Ghât. Taken in a whirlwind of dazzling colours, shades and lights turn into living watercolour paintings before our eyes.
