Chiaroscuro

CHIAROSCURO, an imitation of what can be seen or the revelation of what can’t be, gives free rein to imagination through the duality of this word which opposes and blends brightness and darkness. Chiaroscuro confers dynamism to the picture by creating contrasts that suggest relief and depth.

The light appearing in darkness or revealing it can be strong, hazy, filtered or diffused as in backlighting, night scenes, or twilight.
